Help me raise money for Sense

I'm working hard to raise money for organisation that transforms the quality of life for people who are both deaf and blind throughout Britain

Dear Visitor,

On 26th of April 2009 I'll be taking part in the Flora London Marathon to raise money for Sense, the UK's leading deafblind charity.

Running the distance of marathon: 26 miles 285 yards (42 kilometers 195 meters) will be a real test of determination and stamina for me. It is not only opportunity to push myself physically, but I am also attempting to raise £1400 for Sense's work.

If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Your support will actively improve lives of deafblind people; please help if you can.

For your convenience I can take all forms of support:

Cash

If you know me (and trust me) you can give me money personally. You can also pop in to my office and throw some notes or coins into my donation box. I'll keep record about all donations on my special sponsorship form. If you are UK tax payer give your permission for Sense to claim gift aid on your donation. This allows Sense to claim 28p for each £1 donated. Which means that every donation is 28% bigger and it doesn't cost you nothing!

Cheques

I also have a special sponsorship form for cheque donations. Just make sure that cheque is made payable to Sense (not me!) is signed and is not more that 6 months old. I didn't find information inside my "fundraising pack" if Sense can claim gift aid on cheques. You can send those cheques by post on my office address or I'll be happy to come personally and receive it.

Credit/debit cards

Use my sponsorship page at justgiving.com. Please, during transaction, give your permission for Sense to claim gift aid on your donation if you are UK tax payer. Again, no hassle for you, more money for charity.

Yours sincerely, Łukasz Łakomy

Online donation via justgiving.com is not as easy as you expect

Usually when you do your payment using credit/debit card you expect to give your name, card number, security code and expiration date. But here it is more complicated and requires some more time. First they will take your email address to send you receipt. Then you need to give your full address and all fields are mandatory. It must be real address for the gift aid claim to be succeeded. And then 2 more screens for gift aid purpose. First that asks you if you are UK tax payer and second asks if you are paying your own money and if you aren't getting anything for that donation.

I hope it will not discourage you from donating.
