Plone and Zope companies in London

London - European capital of trade, business, banking, marketing is also a centre of open source technologies. City has large number of companies that provide Zope and Plone services.

Plone and Zope in London

After a year of work in London I can think of few companies that do Zope or Plone. To some I've applied for a job and one of them actually hired me. About some I've heard or even talk to people working there. Sometimes there are competitors and sometimes we help each other. It's small world after all.

Listing provided below is nothing innovative. Although it may save some time of research. Every company can be found on Google if one can spend some time to do it.

Top cities in the world

Doing my small research I went to zope.org and looked on Service Providers On 18th November 2007 there were 219 of them. It doesn't mean that this is total number of companies in the world. They just spent few minutes to register and add their details. But its a good field for research and may give some interesting results. Using Zope providers list I've extracted all cities where that companies are based in. Then I've create a ranking of top cities. In table below I've listed cities that have 3 or more Zope solution providers. London doesn't look very impressive here.

Top countries in the world

Together with cities ranking I've created also a country ranking. Here I've used also plone.net. It was easy to calculate number of Plone companies for each country because you can search by them. Unfortunaltely city is not used as an attribute in company details so I couldn't use that database for cities ranking, which is a shame.

In table below we can see number of Zope companies (from zope.org) Plone (from plone.net) and sum of those two. Of course it is possible that one company appeared in both lists. But I didn't really investigate this more deeply. I'm not doing Ph.D. just trying to present some simple (maybe interesting) statistics. Below is ordered list of all (I could find) countries that are mentioned on those two websites.
